Job Summary

The Field Technician II is responsible for supporting the overall operation of the laboratory by collecting and picking up samples of various types, storing, and delivering them to the designated laboratory location in an efficient and timely manner while following all established SOPs and safety guidelines.

Essential Functions

• Safely and efficiently operate a company vehicle to drive to and from client locations for collecting and retrieving samples, then deliver them to the laboratory.
• Provide exceptional customer service while promoting the company's brand through professional interactions with clients and observable safe driving practices.
• Collect various types of environmental samples, pick up previously collected samples, and deliver them to the laboratory.
• Perform field analysis related to proper sampling protocols, such as measuring pH, temperature, and flow.
• Maintain sample collection equipment and instrumentation.
• Maintain storage of samples in accordance with established SOPs.
• Ensure legal documentation is complete and accurate (e.g., Chain of Custody Forms).
• Maintain regular communication with internal management regarding samples, schedules, customer requirements, problems, delays, and complaints.
• Observe all applicable roadway laws.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the company vehicle.
• Keep accurate logs, records, and other documentation as required.
• Prepare sample containers for delivery and assist customers with sample collection.
• Ensure samples are properly labeled and assist with sample log-in efforts.
• Provide technical assistance to customers within your capabilities or refer to senior management as needed.
• Organize, plan, and schedule own pickup routes based on communicated customer needs.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma.
• At least 2 years of related experience.
• Familiarity with automated sampling techniques and general principles of sanitation and proper sample handling and storage.
• Ability to set up and remove sampling equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Above-average attention to detail.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to operate a company vehicle and observe all safety protocols and laws.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (over the previous 36 months).
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field of study.
