Instrumental Technician - HVAC / BAS

Location: United States, Texas, Houston, Houston (TX Med Ctr)

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm

Summary: Repair and maintain building and utility equipment, respond to customer calls, provide support during emergencies, serve as a subject matter expert, and offer leadership and critical thinking.

Ideal Candidate: Has experience assisting in troubleshooting Building Automation Systems (BAS), alarms, CARFs, computer systems, and HVAC systems.

Job Specific Competencies:

• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot equipment and systems, including pumps, valves, steam systems, vacuum pumps, compressors, water softeners, and heat exchangers.
• Lead or perform repairs, troubleshooting, routing, and preventative maintenance on various equipment and utility systems, often under limited supervision.
• Maintain records of materials, jobs, and pertinent information.
• Respond to and triage critical equipment alarms and make necessary repairs.
• Notify management of all recognized equipment repairs.
• Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
• Collaborate with team members from all craft shops to resolve problems and repair or upgrade utility systems.
• Communicate with team members to identify needs for improvement.
• Conduct water quality analysis and record data at various locations, including MD Anderson main water surge tanks, chlorine testing sites, hardness sampling of water softeners, and RO/DI sampling of soft-water systems.
• Maintain all work to professional standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and safety according to work instructions.
• Coordinate external regulatory inspections and ensure compliance of repairs and installations.
• Function as a point of contact for vendors, prepare and submit reports, and participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Inspect contracted work for compliance.
• Interpret and work from instructions, blueprints, sketches, and diagrams for utility system installation.
• Respond to customer calls, provide customer service, and communicate ongoing updates to clients.
• Document corrective actions, labor hours, and materials used on work orders, and report issues to supervisors.
• Respond to emergency facility alarms, including code red alarms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Four years of experience in electronic, building automated systems, and pneumatic controls, including two years of electrical experience. Possession of a Journeyman Electrician's license, with two years of relevant experience and one year of electrical experience, is preferred.
• Certifications (Preferred): Universal EPA, TDLR Certified HVAC License, TDLR HVAC Contractors License, or Electrical License.
• Onsite Presence: Required.
