Job Summary

The Inventory Manager is responsible for ensuring the right materials are available at the right time and in the right quantities to meet production targets. This role focuses on optimizing inventory levels to reduce costs, minimize waste, and support efficient operations. Key responsibilities include demand forecasting, supplier relationship management, and oversight of material flow.

The Inventory Manager works closely with purchasing, production, and warehouse teams to maintain accurate inventory and ensure seamless supply chain coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Purchasing and Production to forecast material needs based on build schedules and lead times.
• Enter production schedule.
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply of raw materials, trailer components, and consumables.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through routine audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation processes.
• Perform weekly cycle counts on scheduled rotations, verifying usage.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in inventory records, investigating root causes.
• Maintain effective inventory control systems, processes, and KPIs.
• Ensure that materials are stored safely and organized for efficient access and space utilization.
• Coordinate with production for handling non-conforming materials and returns to vendors.
• Assist with data collection and reporting to support cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with company policies.
• Supervise receiving, warehouse operations, and related procedures.
• Ensure inventory availability and manage material flow to minimize downtime.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Communicate with production on new products, back orders, and material discrepancies.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of inventory or warehouse management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with trailer manufacturing or automotive parts inventory preferred.
• Strong understanding of inventory control practices, shipping/receiving, and warehouse operations.
• Proficiency in inventory or ERP software systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Work Environment

• Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds (e.g., files, packages, or office supplies).
• Repetitive hand and wrist movements for typing and data entry.
• Ability to communicate effectively via phone, video calls, and in-person meetings.
• Occasional walking, standing, or bending to retrieve or file documents.
• Manufacturing plant and warehouse setting.
• Daily use of inventory systems.
• Occasional lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• May be exposed to different weather extremes to inspect parts that may be located outside and in different areas stored outdoors.
